Blackbird Academic Success Center

The beginning of our after-school assistance program for students in grades 7-12 begins this week! The Blackbird Academic Success Center will open on Wednesday, January 15th, and will be available every Monday/Wednesday when school is in session. The center will run from 3:20 - 4:15 p.m., so transportation will need to be arranged by families for a 4:15 pickup.

WHAT IS THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTER?

The center is available after school on Mondays and Wednesdays. It will provide:

● A quiet, supportive setting to complete homework after school

● Academic support with homework in subjects students are striving to do better

in

● Assistance in reading and writing skills

● Assistance in foundational math skills

● Support and guidance in organizational skills

● Always starts with an after-school snack 😀

WHO IS THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTER FOR?

● Any current Pettisville students in grades 7-12.

HOW DOES A STUDENT PARTICIPATE IN THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTER?

● A student can independently choose to sign up and participate.

● A student may be encouraged and recommended by a teacher to sign up and

participate.

● A parent or guardian may encourage their student to sign up and participate.

● All students MUST sign up to participate in the after school program.

WHO WILL BE HELPING STUDENTS IN THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTER?

● Pettisville JH/HS teachers will be providing help each Monday and Wednesday

when the center is open.

● Mrs. Meller will be organizing and overseeing the center.

HOW TO SIGN UP:

Space will be limited, students MUST sign up to attend.

A student must sign up by the end of 1st period of the day they plan to attend.

To sign up:

○ A form was emailed to students and parents, and a link is accessible on

our school website. This form can be found HERE.

○ The form must be completed for EACH day the student plans to attend.

Spots are limited to ensure we have plenty of snacks/supplies/staffing. Never hesitate to reach out if you happen to have any questions!
