Pettisville FFA

Pettisville, OH The Pettisville FFA chapter has been busy since the start of school. As soon as school started, FFA members started working on projects in class to take to the Fulton County Fair. Sophomores finished making wooden stools they had started at the end of their freshmen year. Other classes made informational posters to display. Some FFA members also took something from their Supervised Agricultural Experience Projects (SAE’s), such as Agri-Science fair boards, corn, soybeans, hay, or vegetables. Jacob Dennis received trophies for his Agri-Science Fair board and for his soybeans. Several FFA members and alumni members volunteered to work at the Pork and Milkshake stands at the fair. And, our straw team placed 1st. (picture attached)

he freshmen and sophomore Ag classes competed at the County Soil Judging contest on September 19^th. The Urban team of Matthew Rupp, Jessie McWatters, and Felipe Chavez placed 2^nd in the county. The Rural team of Kayla Wyse, Mauricea Crouch, and William Fenton placed 1^st in the county. Wyse placed 1^st in the individual score. At the district contest on September 27^th, the urban team of Matthew Rupp, Jessie McWatters, and Graeme Jacoby placed 2nd in the district. Rupp placed 3^rd in the district and McWatters placed 8^th. The Rural team was led by Kayla Wyse, who was 2^nd in the district, followed by Zach Morrison-5^th place, and Mauricea Crouch-7^th place.

Eight students in the Soil and Agronomic Systems class volunteered to teach third graders about animals at Ag Fest, held on September 20^th, at the Fulton County Fairgrounds. They brought live animals to teach the third graders about animal production, health, and management.

35 FFA members attended Farm Science Review (FSR) on September 21^st. Students had the opportunity to talk with representatives about their Ag colleges and businesses. By visiting FSR, students got to see the opportunities that are available to them in agriculture for future careers.
