Last Friday concluded the 5th vs 6th grade Reading Bowl. It ran for one week leading up to the Superbowl and the students did an amazing job, both reading and being great sports. Two of the classrooms had readers within 1 minute of each other. Please see the photos attached with grade-level winners, classroom winners, and students who read over 1,000 minutes. Great job, Blackbirds!

Mrs. Hoffmire's Sunshine Club recently visited the office of Mr. Lee, our school Treasurer. They learned that Mr. Lee is in charge of making sure there is enough money to pay the bills, keep the lights on in the school, and provide jobs for our teachers and staff. Mr. Lee showed the class a stack of fifty $1 bills and explained if you were to stack them on top of each other, it would take a stack as high as 3-4 windmills to pay for the school to run for one year. He also talked about the importance of learning about numbers and math skills. As a young student, Mr. Lee did not like math. However, he reminded the kindergarteners that it is important to learn all about numbers because you'll need them for many areas of your life, and you never know what career you'll end up in. Thank you, Mr. Lee!
