Mrs. Hoffmire's kindergarten students learned about the letter Hh this week. They worked as Helping Hands washing tables in the cafeteria. A water bottle and plastic glove always makes cleaning more fun. Unprompted, they said, "Well, we gotta help. We are the StarBurst Bunch." Great job, Blackbirds!

Mrs. Miller's 4th grade Blackbirds have enjoyed a few fun activities recently. They played tug of war and related it to how earthquakes occur. When two plates are under pressure (two students pulling) the stress needs to be released, resulting in an earthquake. Students were able to fill the pressure/release throughout the activity and relate it to tectonic plates and plate boundaries. Students competed on an Amazing Math Race. They needed to complete different tasks around the school that reviewed topics we completed in class (place value, comparing numbers, ordering numbers). Students found their math problems by using the clues from their papers. Great job, Blackbirds!

It's always great to be a Blackbird, but today was an incredible day! STATE BOUND!!
Congratulations, PHS Golf ⛳️

While we think they deserve to be celebrated every single day, National Custodian Day is the one day the calendar set aside just for them.
Thanks for all you do to keep our school clean and running safely Ron, Shawn, Jessica, the summer crew, & Lisa and KJ (not pictured).

Attention Blackbirds: Wear your favorite Blackbird Gear this Wednesday, October 2nd to support the Varsity Golf team as they prepare for Districts. Good Luck, Birds!

Mrs. Aeschliman's kindergarteners took advantage of the beautiful sunshine yesterday. They wrapped up their 5-senses unit with some very special glasses that helped them observe the world outside! They have been working hard on their Science journals; great job, Blackbirds!

Mrs. Wise is welcoming our preschoolers this morning on autopilot: “Alexa, Teach My Class!” ☕️

Our Blackbird staff and students have voted and our Library return cart officially has a name: Dolly Carton.
Thanks to Mr. Waidelich, STEAM teacher, for printing the label. Our Library Aide, Grace did a great job adding it to the cart!
Did you know? Dolly Parton created the Imagination Library in 1995 to provide free books to children in her home county in Tennessee. Today, the organization mails over 1,000,000 books each month to homes across the USA. Her hope is to inspire children to Dream More, Learn More, Care More, and Be More. Thank you, Dolly! 📚

REMINDER: Student Council is sponsoring a blood drive on Wednesday, October 9th. The Red Cross is in URGENT need of blood donations. Please consider signing up to donate! https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=PETTISVILLEHS

Mrs. Wixom's 3rd graders became the teacher this week! Each group was challenged with presenting on their assigned life cycle. They taught their peers about the life cycles of ladybugs, dragonflies, frogs, and fish. Well done, Blackbirds! 🐸 🐟 🐞
